“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
These words from scripture where the last few words which echoed at the recent faith camp organised by the MSSP Oratory Youth. The annual camp, titled Echo took on the theme of hope for this year! ECHO His hope was not just about understanding the concept intrinsic value of hope on a personal level but also understanding how to prepare oneself to live out the jubilee of hope – a celebration of faith and renewal.
The event was a joyful gathering, welcoming both youth members that form part of our MOY community and first-time participants who were eager to delve deeper into their faith. Over the course of the weekend, they were immersed in moments of reflection, discussions, and activities designed to make His word come alive in their hearts. Through inputs, workshops, and personal testimonies, participants explored how hope is gradually revealed in the intricacies of their life journeys.
The theme of hope was examined through various lenses – from daily living to challenges like loss and relationships, from the call to justice and care for the environment to the role of singlehood and the mission of the Church. These discussions helped to highlight that hope is not an abstract idea, but something that can be lived and experienced in the realities of everyday life.
The camp was further enriched by moments of prayer, personal reflection, group sharing, and the celebration of the Eucharist. Together, these experiences created a strong sense of community, reinforcing the idea that the journey of faith is never a solitary one but is meant to be supported and strengthened by others. The bonds formed over shared meals, laughter, and even fun activities underlined the importance of fellowship in nurturing a hopeful spirit among all present.
A characteristic of the MOY Echo faith camp is the way in which its message extends beyond the weekend itself. It has become a tradition for participants to carry forward the experience by reaching out to others through various outreach initiatives. Whether visiting care homes, offering companionship to the lonely, or assisting with practical tasks, these acts of service allow the youth to echo the hope they have encountered by sharing it with those in need.
As the faith camp came to a close, there was a deep sense of gratitude for all the effort, support and dedication in making the event possible. The MOY community together with the rest of the participants are now looking forward with what awaits next and the final preparations currently underway, to live-out together a new pastoral year as one community.
Anchored in the Lord’s promise of hope, our youth and all who participated, are now encouraged to remain open to hearing His voice, to trust in His plans, and to let their lives echo the faith they have and are embracing. As they move forward, their mission is clear: to continue being bearers of hope in a world that so desperately needs it.
