Oħloq Tbissima 2025: A Nation Unites to Bring Hope Through MSSP Missions
The 23rd edition of Oħloq Tbissima has come to a close, once again uniting the Maltese people in an extraordinary act of solidarity and generosity. Organised by the Missionary Society of St Paul (MSSP), this annual telethon raised an impressive €441,590 in support of the Society’s missions in Malta and abroad.
At the heart of Oħloq Tbissima is a desire to bring hope to the world’s most vulnerable. This year, the funds raised will support life-transforming projects in some of the most deprived areas, particularly in Peru, Pakistan and Philippines apart from another project in Malta at St Joseph Home. These include the provision of clean drinking water, the construction or expansion of schools in remote communities, and the development of independent living spaces for young people leaving care. These initiatives reflect MSSP’s enduring mission: to serve the poor and share the Good News, in both word and deed.
The success of the event was made possible by the outpouring of support from individuals, businesses, and volunteers. Many donated food and essential supplies, while others helped in the logistical and promotional efforts. Over three days, hundreds of volunteers offered their time to answer phones, prepare meals, assist with organisation, and support the broadcast.
Artists, presenters, and performers also gave generously of their time and talent to make the event a memorable one. Their contribution added joy and vitality to an effort rooted in service, sacrifice, and love.
Above all, Oħloq Tbissima stands as a witness to what can be achieved when faith meets action. MSSP missionary Fr Louis Mallia, who continues to lead the initiative with unwavering dedication, summed it up best: Through the love and commitment of many, we were able to offer not just material help, but the gift of hope.
As the 23rd edition concludes, the message remains as strong as ever: Hope is real, and it is made visible through acts of kindness, generosity, and mission.
